Destiny 2's Osiris DLC will add a new laser rifle, a mic drop emote, and some very silly armour

To address recent community discontent, Destiny devs Bungie canceled the livestream that would've shown off all the new loot we'll be earning when next week's Curse of Osiris DLC drops. They've now released a modest preview in their latest weekly update.

Here's everything we know about Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris.

It's less than 50 seconds, but it still shows off some pretty funky stuff. It looks like we'll get a gun that shoots robotic bomb-carrying spiders, and that a new trace rifle with a red laser will join Coldheart as the second weapon in this class. Both are likely to be Exotic, as is the delightfully daft Titan helm with the glowing horns. A new dance and a mic drop emote are both clearly visible, and there's a brief glimpse of a slick ice-white Future War Cult robe.

Fortnite: Battle Royale gets a map update and drops the hammer on griefers

Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is becoming an increasingly big deal - it recently propelled the game overall to 20 million unique players, just ahead of the mighty PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Accordingly, developers Epic have published a blog acknowledging weaknesses in its current state, and outlining an ambitious plan to support it in the future, including custom games, tournament support, more items and weapons, and plenty more.

The Fortnite team acknowledge some deficiencies on the game’s social side and on team killing. They’re working on making it easier to find new friends, whether by rediscovering people you “had a great game with” or by importing friends from other social networks. They admit they “dropped the ball” on team killing, and say last week they began casting a wider net to catch more offenders, issuing “numerous warnings and bans.”

Scientists have found a strong correlation between intelligence and performance in League of Legends. This will come as no surprise to players given that MOBAs require players to think strategically, cooperate with teammates, and retain vast amounts of information. The scientists’ study in PLOS ONE goes further, as it has them stating they believe MOBAs can be used to measure cognitive intelligence.

“If this was chess, no-one would be surprised by this at all,” Alex Wade, Professor of Psychology at the University of York, and the study’s co-author says. The only surprise here really is that there are some videogames now that are as complicated as chess and people play them all the time.”
