Ocean-going survival game Subnautica is on sale right now on Steam, as part of a partnership between developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment and conservation charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation. The partnership is taking place in celebration of World Ocean Day, which takes place today, June 8.
From now until 10:00 PST on Monday, June 11, you can pick up Subnautica for 20% off, at a total of $19.99. 15% of the profits from the weekend will then go directly to Whale and Dolphin Conservation to support their work protecting marine mammals.
Subnautica makes it onto our list of the best survival games.
Head of publishing at Subnautica publisher Perfect World Entertainment, Whitney Henderson, said “it’s really exciting for us to be able to work with WDC on the Oceans Day promotion and to be able to use Subnautica to help make a difference.” Given the deadly threat posed by the game’s marine behemoths, I think there’s a certain irony to the partnership, but it’s still a worthy cause nonetheless.
You can find Subnautica on its Steam page. If you plan to pick the game up for the first time this weekend, you might want to take a look at our Subnautica guide to help you establish your marine base.
